Color formatters set widget thresholds/colors. Use Formatters panel, select Color tab. Add/edit conditions, set colors. Unique names needed.
A color formatter is used to define the threshold values for when the colors used in dials and graphs within widgets should change, and also specify which color should be used for each range of values. You can have multiple color formatters in a report, but the formatter names must be unique.
The formatter includes an initial condition as default. You can edit this as required, and you can create and set up additional conditions as necessary. For each condition, you can specify the color to be used, the threshold value, and the range of values for which the color should be applied.
To edit the name of the formatter, click on the current name to open the editing field and change it as desired.
Creating a Condition within Color Formatters
A condition is defined by three values: Apply, When and Threshold. These are defined in the Apply, When and Threshold fields.
To create a condition, follow these steps:
Click the Formatters icon in the Sidebar to open the Formatters panel.
Click the Color tab to open the list of existing color formatters.
Click a Color formatter's drop-down arrow. Note that if you are editing a default formatter you need to override it first.
Click the + Condition button to add a new condition to the list.
Note
When setting up the conditions, it is recommended to start with the highest value threshold in the first condition and work down to the lowest.
Selecting the Color to Apply
To select a color within the Apply field, follow these steps.
Click the color sample circle in the Apply field to open a color picker overlay.
Drag the sliders to find the color you want to use
On completion, click anywhere outside the color picker overlay to save your changes.
Deciding When the Color is Applied
The next step in creating your condition is to define when the color should be applied.
To do this, select a Boolean expression from the drop-down list.
The options are:
>= Greater than or equal to
<= Less than or equal to
= Equal to
> Greater than
< Less than
!= Not equal to
Setting Thresholds
The threshold field is where you defined thresholds for your condition. This is done by setting a number or a percentage value.
Example
To define thresholds, start by setting the highest threshold in the first condition.
For example:
Set the value to 80%, specify ">=" in the When field, and select the color green for values greater than or equal to that threshold.
Create a new condition for the second highest threshold, such as 50%, again using ">=", and select the color yellow for values greater than or equal to that threshold but less than the highest threshold.
Repeat this process for each required threshold value.
Example of using color thresholds
When using this formatter, values up to 50% will be displayed in red, values between 50% and 80% will be displayed in yellow, and values 80% or higher will be displayed in green.
