Formatters in Studio allow configuration of properties on certain types of widgets such as color palettes, font size, and number formats.
Formatters can be used to configure various properties on certain types of widgets, such as color palettes, font size, number formats, separator character, and actions to be taken when a property is not given a value.
Default formatters are identified by the default formatters icon. These can be seen as a package of settings that are provided to make your Studio experience simpler.
To manage your formatters, click the Formatters icon in the Sidebar to open the Formatters panel.
The Formatters panel offers three types of formatters:
Color formatters - used to define threshold values for when the colors used in dials and graphs within widgets should change, and also specify which color should be used for each range of values. To learn more about color formatters and how to create them, visit: Color Formatters.
Number formatters - used to define the number format, the integer and decimal separators, the number of decimals, what should be displayed if the value is empty, and any pre- and post-fix strings. To learn more about number formatters and how to create them, visit: Number Formatters.
Palette formatters - used in charts and consist of a list of colors in a specific order. These colors can be applied to, for example, the bars in a chart, in the order in which they are defined in the palette. To learn more about palette formatters and how to create them, visit: Palette Formatters.
When you first open the Formatters panel, it will contain default formatters to help you get started. These defaults are tailored to the widgets and will be automatically applied as soon as you begin configuring a new widget.
Next to each formatter is a orange circled number, this is there to inform you how many times the formatter has been used throughout your report.
